Being a Foster Home is the most important link in our rescue and adoption process. Without our foster homes, all the loving, adoptable Pit Bulls don't stand a chance of finding a new family.
Your goal is to provide a loving, structured, responsible, safe, and educational environment.
WHAT WOULD MY RESPONSIBILITIES BE?
- To provide a secure environment.
This involves everything from strong fencing, to supervision other dogs, pets and children.
- To provide daily care.
Just like owning a pet, this includes feeding, exercise, waste clean-up, and positive, loving interactions, as well as being on the lookout for any emerging medical or behavioral issues.
- To provide a good balance of love and discipline.
Most dogs are returned to shelters because they were lacking in adequate attention or training/discipline in their early months. As a foster home, you have the chance to teach this dog just what love is all about, in the form of grooming, play, and petting, as well as fair, consistent training and discipline.
- To allow prospective adopters meet the foster dog.
When we believe we've found a potential adopter, we will work with you to arrange a meet-and-greet. We will solicit your input to help us match up the best possible family with your foster dog.
- To provide feedback.
Your role is to provide truthful and complete information about the dog. We'll also want to know how YOU are doing. We want to make your foster experience the most positive it can be!
